King of Trails Washington Ave. Pedestrian Bridge is Officially OPEN!

We had beautiful weather on Saturday, May 5th to celebrate the ribbon cutting and grand opening of the King of Trails Washington Avenue Pedestrian Bridge! Thank you to the 80+ people who showed up to celebrate with us, and special thanks to the organizations whose funding made this bridge a possibility: Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism, Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City, @City of Iola, Kansas Health Foundation, Sunflower Foundation, PeopleForBikes.org, and New Belgium Brewing.

The pedestrian bridge spanning Elm Creek along South Washington Avenue connects Iola proper with the Lehigh Portland Trails complex, Gates Corporation and other points south.  We encourage you to get on a bike or throw on your walking shoes and check it out.  Then continue on further south to experience the Lehigh Portland Trails.
